Domestic Energy Assessments

Commencing on 1st August 2007, the government has decreed that all domestic houses for sale in England and Wales must have an Energy Performance Certificate, commencing with properties with 4 or more bedrooms, and from 10th September 2007 - properties with 3 bedrooms. As from 14th December 2007, all domestic properties now require an EPC.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will show how energy efficient the house is. The EPC will also identify cost effective improvements to reduce fuel bills and make the property a more attractive prospect.

Further Properties

The government intend to expand this area to cover rented property, and next year will also include Commercial properties. Scotland will also see this legislation introduced in 2008.
